There are several ways that may improve your portfolio’s visibility to search engines. Here are some tips.
1. Customize homepage and pages titles:
Search engines typically prioritize site titles, page titles, blog post titles, and headings. Think about it while creating new page, because these titles also appear in browser tabs and search results. Try to make them friendly to both search bots and human readers - uncomplicated and specific.
To change site title, log in to your User Panel and go to 'Settings'.
Choose 'Site settings', where you can type site title and keywords. It is also a great idea to supplement the description of the page by giving the information about what content will mainly appear on it. Be precise and use the most common words which could likely be used to search for content by people interested in pages similar to yours.
To change titles of other pages, go to 'Pages' and click on the image of pencil that appears next to the page title.
2. Structure content with headings and subheadings:
It’s crucial, especially if you ran a blog or create new pages that consist text. Like titles, search engines typically give headings a higher priority. Clear headings that describe the content, which makes it easier for search engines to detect the major themes of your site. At the same time, they help visitors scan your page and quickly find the information they're looking for. And you know - we’re living in the terror of time era, so such a distinguished text fragments may prove to be very valuable for busy people.
Let’s try this on the example of a new page. Go to 'Pages' and create a new page.
Add title and text that will be divided into paragraphs. Think of the best header to each paragraph.
Now highlight text of the header and click on the 'Paragraph' to see how many style you have at your disposal. Choose one and proceed in the same way with the rest of the headers.
3. Add tags:
Add tags to each photo that you upload to make it easier for visitors to track similar photos. Adding tags and categories that accurately describe the item or place could help it appear in search results.
To add tags go to 'Galleries', and click on the image of a pencil next to a gallery.
Now pick a photo and open an editing panel.
Here you can add tags.
4. Start a blog:
Why? It’s the best tool to help search engines see your portfolio as an active site (blog post are one of the best way to 'show' that you're updating your site frequently. Remember to structure content with headings and subheadings and customizing blog post titles.
