matt,
1.what does it mean not to “overwork” your painting or drawing?
i know we have to me patient to built the illusion of our object….
2.didn’t some famous artist use a few strokes or maybe that’s an illusion in itself?
thanks,raquel
Great Lesson, Thank you;-)
Outstanding lesson. Such detail!
thank u so much . this is so informative ad easy to follow š
This is brilliant! Thanks Matt. Please could I ask how long it took you to complete this painting from start to finish? Also, due to ill health, I can only paint for very short spells then rest, how do I stop my paint on my palate from drying out? I will have to wait until the next day throughout each painting Iām working on so how can I preserve my palate for this length of time? Many thanks
That is exactly my same question as I am in the same place.
google for ‘wet palette’
good lesson… I’ve been looking for a teacher for acrylics for a long time. Looks like I found him š
Brilliant, really enjoyed this, and the explanation of the value, and form, was clear, thank you.
OMG, I took this course because I am a beginner but this is NOT a beginner acrylic painting lesson or course. I’m very frustrated!!! (as you can probably tell).
Yes, Matt, how do you keep the paint wet?
How long did it take you?
What size brush should you use to get the letters fine?
How do you keep your brush from gooping up?
Why start with something much easier like techniques? UGH!!!
After reading some of these comments I think it might help for some eager learners to step out of the box. The beautiful thing is that is exactly what ART is! These lessons have great content to show techniques to understand acrylic painting in general. This particular lesson covers many problematic situations with one tiny subject.
As a beginner it can be frustrating. Sometimes, we want to know exactly what to do. Matt is teaching many skills in this lesson that can actually be taken into many subjects an artist may want to paint. I think artists can be distracted by constantly wanting to execute. I believe that sometimes less doing and more absorbing ideas, is more important than actually doing a painting perfectly.
Im sure any artist agrees the end game here is to actually be able to create your own art one day without instruction. Listening to Matt’s ideas and watching some of the techniques will be far more beneficial than getting wrapped up in the obsession to copy perfectly.
Thank You for the lesson I think its fantastic and very helpful.
how long does it take the paint to dry before you can paint over it/
