Can you please tell me the manufacturer of the 2B pencil you are using? Thank you
Hi Kathy, the pencil is made by Staedtler. You can pick one up at most art stores where they keep drafting supplies.
mechanical pencils I have contain a uniform cylinder of graphite; yet yours always stays nicely pointed. Do you sharpen it?
Hi Frederick,
The mechanical pencil used here is by Staedtler. The lead is quite a bit thicker than a regular mechanical pencil. Staedtler makes a special pencil sharpener for their mechanical pencils which is awesome! You can find both products on Amazon, your local art store, and some office supply stores.
I did this along with you and I’m quite pleased with the results. My Faber-Castell 2B Pencil didn’t seem as dark as yours so I switched to my mechanical pencil. Although it’s 2B it has a narrow lead.
I very much enjoyed following along with you on this drawing. I did fairly well drawing the trees in the background. However, after that there is a departure of my drawing resembling yours. I suppose the rocks and water are beyond my skill level. I have drawn it twice and did improve significantly. Hopefully when I draw it again I will see yet another improvement. I am so happy to have found your instruction. I have been looking for this type instruction since I started drawing about 10 month ago. You sir are a great teacher.
What a wonderful lesson! The three things I’ve always wanted to be able to draw but couldn’t – trees, rocks and water. I am thrilled with the result. Drawing water was the most difficult challenge!
